At 18, I left the small town of Princeville, Illinois (pop. 1,700) to go to college in Fort Scott, Kansas on a rodeo scholarship. When I took off I had my horse trailer loaded down with most of my "worldly" possessions knowing I would probably only return home for visits.
Several years and several small rural Kansas towns later, I graduated Kansas State University with a Bachelors in Agribusiness and settled down in Greenwood County where I am the Economic Development Director for Greenwood County. I have a beautiful baby girl who is growing up fast and a loving husband that I enjoy working along side; whether it is tending grass cattle, doctoring sick or making improvements to our 15 acre slice of heaven nestled at the foot of Duke Hill outside of Reece.

SB 198 - ROZ
So it is official...the Rural Opportunity Zones will become a reality with the coming of the State's new year. I got to thinking..."this would have been nice when I was graduating" which got me thinking...how would I have known about this at the time so I could take advantage of the program?
