Blazing Trails
By Erika Nelson | Success Stories
There’s something about finding a new road, a new path, that always gets my heart going. It can be said for life in Kansas, too – finding new paths once the old ones are worn or too wrote. What new path are you looking for?
I’ve always been a wanderer, and explorer. I get tired of traveling the same route, following the same routines. Many of my generation feel the same way – we’re not predisposed to slog along at a 9 – 5 job, endlessly. We crave a challenge – we crave opportunity – we crave variety. That’s not to say we aren’t reliable, but it IS to say that life and work for a PowerUp needs to be an ever-changing, flexible thing. Fixed routine often gets translated to ‘stifling’ to me. But, put a project in front of me, something to accomplish and see through, and I’m all in.
Now, to bridge those gaps between 9 – 5 and project-based work. There are some GREAT examples of Kansas entrepreneurs doing just that – creating their own work methods and environments, inside a small community that is used to doing it the 9 – 5 way. From their stories, PowerUps across the state can gain inspiration and maybe some tips to create that same environment in their own communities…
