We find that people in rural Kansas, especially people ages 21-39 have trouble meeting each other and connecting. We find that Kansas communities need the energy and input of their younger generations to jumpstart and sustain the vitality of their communities.
People who join Rural by Choice in that age group, 21-39, are called PowerUps. People under age 21 are called Sparks, and people 40 and better are called PowerOns. All Rural by Choice members are active in their communities and become the leaders that small towns of Kansas need. Here are just some of the benefits of being Rural by Choice:
- Friendships
- Peer networks
- Political/social activism
- Service opportunities
- Community leadership
- Peer socialization
